Click here to read about BEL. BEL ECC88 tubes have very clean sound. Sonically, these tubes beat any current production junk. Great for Audio and Guitar applications.

BEL plant was set up in collaboration with Mullard/Philips in 1950s in India to make tubes for defense needs. BEL also made OEM tubes for various names like Mullard, Philips, Sylvania, GE, Mazda etc etc. from 1960s to 1980s. BEL stopped making small signal tubes in 80s and now only makes tubes for broadcasting and X-ray tubes for GE Catscan machines. BEL is listed as one of the Philips factories in the tube factory code list.

Brief review by Jeremy Baird

The BEL ECC88 should be a top consideration for any 6922/6DJ8/E88CC/ECC88 tube amp. The BEL Is an overlooked tube that has very good performance and for its cost is a top contender.

This tube has great detail, can add ‘air’ to your system without being sibilant, it has a slightly mid forward presentation with good low end (this tube falls in what I would consider “Goldilocks” territory, it strikes a balance of midrange warmth, airy top end and good bass).

ECC88/E88CC family of tubes can be very costly for great performing NOS tubes, this is where the BEL shines. It competes with other expensive ECC88 tubes for a far more reasonable price. This is a great “Goldilocks” tube and deserves to be on anyone’s short list of considerations. A TLDR and review of the BEL ECC83/12AX7 coming soon as well.
